Jiggyboo

Killersixtysix.com is now Jiggyboo.net! (Domain Name Change)

January 13, 2008

I’ve actually planned to do this for a while. But i’ve not really had time. And its not like i really had time now, but given that I had to setup the server from scratch (see here and here) I decided to make the plunge and setup Jiggyboo.net as my personal blog (which used to be called killersixtysix.com).

Where does this name come from?

Well, first it may be good to understand the history of Killersixtysix.com. In my world (online/geekery/etc) have a character defining “handle” or nickname is vitally important. The problem is that for whatever reason, I’ve always struggled with this aspect of my online persona.

At first (I was really young, forgive me) I just picked random names out of the online games of TFC. The problem with this is that I will never actually feel very validated by these names, simply because they are plagiarized from other people.

One day I decided to really think of a name that suited me. The result of this brain cramp session was Killersixtysix. I felt that conveyed how hardcore I am, and how much I kill, and how much people are so afraid of me, because i’m so hardcore and stuff. It really seemed to connect with that Hitman genre I like so much (harcore).

The problem is, it never really caught with me. It was much better than my old blog name (flattire.blogspot.com), but I just didn’t bond with the name.

Then, some time ago (a year, two, i have no idea). I was hanging out with Mat Black (Matthew Curtis), and while hanging out I had a little burst of energy which resulted in a little body jig, and a noise. The noise was something close to “Jiggyboo”. Mat thought I’d said “Jiggaboo”, which from what I understand is a racial slur. But, this is not what I was saying. I was saying “Jiggyboo”.

Thus my myspace name was changed, and I started using it more and more. It was not a full on conversation, but this was a name I truly bonded with. And truly, it is my online nickname, I’m claiming it for my use from here on out (that goes for you internet, off-limits).

I realized at some point that it didn’t make any sense at all to have Killersixtysix as my blog name. Jiggyboo is a much more happy sounding name, and generally speaking thats just more like me, kinda happy and goofy. Granted, i’m still hardcore, and I kill nuns, just because i’m hardcore like that. But Jiggyboo was my destiny.

Not all was well though. I found that Jiggyboo.com (my desired domain name) was taken by some fruity ringtone company. Right now its a super lame bubbly site. I was pissed, but in the end, it doesn’t matter. Because i’m more of a network (.net) than a company (.com); if you consider the “network” of friends I have.

And so it was, jiggyboo.net.
